Power Monger (japan) Game

Power Monger on the Genesis is one of those weird, ambitious strategy games from the early '90s that feels like a mix between Civilization and a medieval war sim. You start off with a tiny village and a handful of peasants, and before long, you're managing resources, building armies, and trying not to get wiped out by rival warlords.
The overhead view makes it look simple, but there’s a surprising amount of depth—you’ve got to balance food, gold, and morale while expanding your territory. The AI isn’t exactly forgiving, either. One wrong move, and suddenly your entire army deserts because you forgot to feed them. Classic '90s frustration.
It’s got that old-school charm with chunky sprites and a soundtrack that somehow makes managing grain supplies feel epic. If you’re into retro strategy games with a bit of a learning curve, this one’s worth a look.
