Power Drive on the Genesis is one of those racers that feels simple at first—just pick a car, hit the gas, and try not to spin out on the turns. But after a few races, you start noticing the little things, like how each car handles differently (the red one’s faster but slides like it’s on ice) or how the AI drivers get weirdly aggressive on the last lap.
The tracks have this great 90s arcade vibe—bright colors, sharp pixel details, and some sneaky shortcuts if you’re willing to risk a crash. It’s not as polished as, say, OutRun, but there’s something satisfying about nailing a perfect drift around a hairpin turn while the soundtrack blares that crunchy Genesis synth.
Honestly, it’s the kind of game where you tell yourself “just one more race” and suddenly it’s been an hour. If you’re into retro racers, this one’s got enough charm to make up for its rough edges.
