Pokémon Bronze is one of those fan-made GBC rom hacks that actually feels like it could’ve been a real release back in the day. The pixel art’s clean, the new Pokémon sprites fit right in, and the map’s got just enough twists to keep you from guessing every route. Started with a Grass-type this time—turns out there’s a weirdly good early-game Bug-type that evolves fast and wrecks the first couple gyms if you’re patient.

No crazy difficulty spikes, but some of the trainer battles will catch you off guard if you’re just mashing A. Also, someone clearly had fun designing the rival—they’re way more of a jerk than Blue ever was. Still runs smooth on original hardware if you’ve got a flash cart.
