Pokémon Puzzle Challenge is one of those sneaky-good Game Boy Color games that hooks you fast. It's basically a Pokémon-themed version of Panel de Pon (you might know it as Tetris Attack), where you're sliding tiles to match three or more. The twist? Instead of generic blocks, you're lining up Pokémon icons—Pikachu, Charmander, all the classics—while trainers like Whitney or Bugsy heckle you from the side of the screen.
At first it feels simple, just clearing combos to fill a meter and knock out your opponent. But then the AI starts throwing insane chains at you, and suddenly you're sweating over whether to go for a quick clear or set up a bigger combo. The music's weirdly intense for a puzzle game, too—that Gym Leader battle theme goes harder than it needs to.
It's the kind of game where you mean to play "just one round" and end up grinding the puzzle mode for an hour. The Pokémon theme works way better than it should.
