About Pirates Of Dark Water, The (january 1994)
The Pirates of Dark Water came out for the Sega Genesis in 1994, developed by Sunsoft. It was part of that wave of games based on cartoons, trying to capture the look and feel of the animated series on the 16-bit hardware.
You control Ren, the main character from the show, navigating side-scrolling levels. Your goal is to find the lost treasures of Octopon to stop the spreading Dark Water. You use a sword for close combat and can find a crossbow for ranged attacks against the various creatures and pirates. The game is structured screen by screen; you clear enemies from an area before you can proceed. It moves at a brisk pace, but the difficulty can be unforgiving with precise platforming required.
