Phantasy Star II – Huey’s Adventure is one of those classic Sega Genesis RPGs that somehow still holds up. You start off as Huey, this scrappy little guy who’s basically just trying to survive in a messed-up future where everything’s gone sideways. The pixel art’s got that perfect retro charm—think neon cities and weird alien landscapes that actually feel alive.

Combat’s turn-based but snappy, and the dungeons? Oh man, they’re brutal in the best way. You’ll be scribbling maps on scrap paper like it’s 1990 again. The story’s surprisingly deep for its time, too—way more than just “go save the world.” There’s betrayal, weird sci-fi twists, and characters who actually stick with you. If you’ve ever wanted to see what old-school RPGs were like before they got all flashy, this is a solid place to start.
