Phantasy Star II was already one of the best RPGs on the Genesis, but this enhanced English version makes it even better. You start off as this rookie hunter named Rolf, running errands in a futuristic city—until everything goes sideways and you realize there's way more going on than fetch quests.

The battles are tough but fair, and I love how each character actually feels unique—Nei's dual claws shred enemies, while Hugh's tech skills come in clutch when you're in a pinch. The dungeons? Brutal. You'll be drawing maps like it's 1989 again (or just cursing at dead ends).

What really got me was the story though. Starts slow, but once the twists hit, it goes full sci-fi epic with androids, ancient civilizations, and some surprisingly dark moments. The enhanced sprites and translation make it way easier to get invested compared to the original.

Just don't forget to save often—those random encounters don't play around.
