Phantasy Star III: Generations of Doom came out for the Sega Genesis in 1991, developed and published by Sega. It was the third RPG in its series, arriving at a time when the console was building a strong library of role playing games that offered deeper stories and more complex worlds than many earlier titles.
You control a hero who explores towns and dungeons screen by screen, engaging in random turn based battles with monsters. You manage a party, buy equipment, and learn magic spells to survive the challenging dungeons and tough boss fights.
