Phantasy Star - Sennenki no Owari ni is one of those classic JRPGs that feels way ahead of its time. You start off in this sci-fi fantasy world with turn-based battles, but what really stands out is the mix of magic and laser guns—like wizards in space armor. The dungeon crawling can get brutal (bring graph paper for some of those mazes), but the story’s got this weirdly melancholic vibe that sticks with you.
It’s Japan-only, so unless you’re fluent, you’ll be relying on fan translations or just mashing buttons until something works. Still, if you’re into retro RPGs with a unique atmosphere, this one’s worth digging up. Just don’t expect any hand-holding.
