Okay, so The Pagemaster on Genesis is one of those weird licensed games that somehow works. You play as this kid (yep, Macaulay Culkin’s character) who gets sucked into a magical library—basically, every book comes to life, and suddenly you're dodging pirates, dragons, and Dr. Jekyll’s creepy experiments.
The controls are a little stiff at first, but once you get used to jumping between floating bookshelves and whacking enemies with a flashlight, it’s oddly satisfying. The levels switch genres too—one minute you’re in a horror section, the next it’s all swashbuckling sword fights. Just don’t expect it to hold your hand; some of those platforming bits are brutal.
Also, the music? Surprisingly good for a movie tie-in. That library theme still gets stuck in my head.
