Okay, so The Pagemaster on Genesis is this weird little adventure game where you play as a kid (yep, Macaulay Culkin’s character from the movie) who gets sucked into a magical library. The whole thing feels like a fever dream—you’re running through shelves dodging flying books, solving puzzles, and occasionally summoning the Pagemaster himself to help out.

It’s got that early ‘90s platformer jank—some jumps are weirdly floaty, and the hitboxes can be brutal—but there’s charm in the chaos. The levels are based on different book genres (horror, fantasy, etc.), so one minute you’re fighting dragons, the next you’re in a Frankenstein lab. Also, losing your library card actually matters, which is either hilarious or annoying depending on how many times you’ve backtracked.

Not gonna lie, it’s rough around the edges, but if you’re into obscure movie tie-ins or just love that era of Sega randomness, it’s a fun curiosity. Just don’t expect a masterpiece.
