PGA Tour Golf II on the Genesis is one of those old-school golf games that somehow nails the feel of the sport without overcomplicating things. You pick your golfer, pick a course—Augusta’s here, which was a big deal back then—and just swing away. The controls are simple: hold the button to power up, release to hit, and pray you didn’t overdo it. Wind actually matters, which I learned the hard way when my ball sailed straight into a lake.
It’s not flashy by today’s standards, but there’s something satisfying about the way the ball rolls on the green or how the crowd groans when you miss a putt. The Japanese version doesn’t change much, but the menus are in English, so no guessing required. If you’ve got nostalgia for 16-bit sports games, this one holds up better than most.
