PGA Tour Golf II on Genesis is one of those sports games that actually gets golf right—no gimmicks, just solid mechanics and enough depth to keep you tweaking your swing. The greens look surprisingly good for 16-bit, and there's something satisfying about nailing a long putt after adjusting for wind and slope.

You start by picking your pro (I always went with the fictional players—their stats felt more balanced) and then it's straight to the tee box. The swing meter takes some getting used to—too fast and you'll slice into the rough, too slow and... well, let's just say I've shanked a few embarrassing shots. But once it clicks, you start noticing little things like how the ball rolls differently on Bermuda grass versus bentgrass.

What I love is that it doesn't baby you. Misjudge the wind on the back nine at Sawgrass? Enjoy fishing your ball out of the water. But landing an approach shot within inches of the pin? That never gets old. Just don't throw your controller when you three-putt on the 18th to lose by one stroke—we've all been there.
