About Outrun
OutRun came out for the Sega Genesis in 1991, a port of Sega's own arcade hit. It was one of those games that felt like a real spectacle on the system, a slice of arcade driving that you could play at home. During that era, having a game that looked and moved this smoothly was a real event.
You control a driver in a red sports car, viewed from behind, and your goal is simply to drive as far as you can before time runs out. The main mechanics involve steering to avoid traffic, shifting between high and low gears for control on corners, and choosing your path at the end of each stage. The game is fast and demanding; a single crash costs precious seconds. The feeling of sliding through a perfect corner at high speed is a genuine rush.
