The Ottifants came out for the Sega Genesis in 1993, a European exclusive developed by Sega and published by Tec Toy in Brazil. It was one of many cartoon platformers from that era, based on a German animated series that never really caught on elsewhere.

You control Otto the elephant, navigating side scrolling levels to rescue his kidnapped friends. The main goal is straightforward: get from the start of each stage to the end while avoiding enemies and pitfalls. Your primary actions are a standard jump and a ground pound move to defeat foes. You also collect musical notes scattered throughout the levels; these notes are the main collectible and often require some exploration to find them all. The pacing is generally brisk, but the controls can feel a bit slippery, making some of the platforming more challenging than it first appears. Playing it feels like a slightly unpolished but earnest attempt at a mascot game from the 16 bit period.
