About Osomatsu-kun - Hachamecha Gekijou (japan)
Osomatsu-kun - Hachamecha Gekijou came out for the Sega Genesis in 1988, developed by Sega. It was part of that early wave of Japanese Mega Drive games, a time when developers were still figuring out what the hardware could do. The game is based on the Osomatsu-kun anime, so it has that specific, local flavor that didn't always make it outside Japan.
You control one of the Matsuno sextuplets, running through side-scrolling stages. Your main goal is to rescue your kidnapped brother from the Dekapan gang. The gameplay involves a lot of jumping between platforms and using your character's special ability, like Karamatsu's boomerang or Choromatsu's jump attack, to defeat the oddball enemies. You explore each stage screen by screen, and there is a light puzzle element in figuring out which brother's power is needed to progress. The pacing is brisk, and the difficulty can spike unexpectedly with some tricky enemy placements. Playing it feels like navigating a chaotic cartoon from that era.
