About Nintendogs - Dalmatian & Friends (eu)
Nintendogs: Dalmatian & Friends came out for the Nintendo DS in 2006, developed and published by Nintendo. It was part of that wave of DS games that really used the touch screen and microphone in a direct, personal way, moving beyond traditional buttons. This version let you choose from six breeds, including the Dalmatian, Labrador, and Beagle.
You control a cursor with the stylus to interact with your virtual puppy. Your main goal is to care for and train your dog, building its skills for competitions like agility trials and disc catching. Signature mechanics include using the microphone to call your dog by name and teach it commands like "sit" or "roll over," and taking your dog for walks by tapping the screen to guide it along a path. The pacing is slow and gentle; there is no way to lose, only daily routines of feeding, brushing, and playing. It feels like having a low maintenance, affectionate companion living in your pocket.
