Ever played a golf game where the wind actually messes with your shot? That’s what got me about this old Sega Genesis gem—Pebble Beach No Hatou. The greens look blocky by today’s standards, but back then, the 3D fairways felt like stepping onto the real course. You’ll spend the first few holes figuring out the swing meter (timing’s everything), and then suddenly you’re obsessing over whether to use a 5-iron or just go for broke with the driver.
What’s cool is how the game doesn’t hold your hand. Miss the fairway? Congrats, you’re now hacking through pixelated rough that’ll punish your score. The bunkers are brutal, and the ocean holes? Let’s just say I’ve lost a lot of virtual balls to those waves. It’s janky in that nostalgic way, but there’s something satisfying about nailing a long putt with those chunky graphics. If you’ve got a Genesis lying around, dust it off for this one.
