Need for Speed ProStreet on DS is way better than you’d expect for a handheld racer. The controls are tight, and drifting around corners actually feels satisfying—not just a slide-fest like some arcade racers. You start off with a basic ride, but after a couple races, you’re already tweaking parts and slapping on decals. The AI doesn’t just rubberband; if you mess up a turn, they’ll leave you in the dust.
Surprisingly, the graphics hold up for a DS game—smoke effects when you burn out, little details on the cars. The urban tracks aren’t just straight lines, either; tight alleyways and highway loops keep things interesting. Just don’t expect Forza-level realism—it’s still a pocket-sized racer at heart.
If you’ve got a soft spot for early 2000s street racing vibes, this one’s a solid pick.
