Nakayoshi Mahjan Kaburiichi (j)(nil) Game

Ever stumbled across a weird little mahjong game on the GBA that somehow has Nakayoshi in the title? Yeah, me too. This one's a stripped-down, no-frills take on Japanese mahjong—no fancy anime girls or story modes, just tiles and quick matches. The controls are simple enough (d-pad to move, A to select), but good luck if you don’t already know your pons from your chans.
First time I booted it up, I thought it’d be another cutesy spin on the genre, but nah—it’s straight-up riichi mahjong with a basic UI that feels like it was ported from an early ‘90s arcade cabinet. Weirdly charming in its bare-bones way, though. You’ll either vibe with the no-nonsense approach or bail after one round.
Definitely not the game to learn mahjong from, but if you’ve got the basics down and want something to kill time, it does the job.
