NBA Action '95 is one of those Sega Genesis sports games that just feels right. The second you start a game, you're hit with that classic mid-90s arcade basketball vibe—players move fast, dunks have way more flair than they should, and the announcer sounds like he's hyped on three cups of coffee.
I remember picking the Suns first because, well, Charles Barkley. The controls are simple—pass, shoot, turbo—but there's a sneaky amount of strategy in when to go for steals or how to set up the perfect fast break. The animations are chunky in that old-school way, but you can actually tell players apart, which was rare back then.
It's not a sim by any means, but that's why it holds up. You'll miss half your three-pointers, accidentally throw passes into the stands, and still have a blast doing it. Just don't expect modern mechanics—this is pure, slightly chaotic Genesis-era hoops.
