You start off bobbing and weaving like Ali, throwing jabs that feel way more satisfying than they should for 16-bit sprites. The controls are simple—just punch and move—but timing your dodges between combos makes all the difference.

What’s cool is how the fighters actually react when you land a solid hook—they stumble back, gloves up, and you can almost hear the crowd roaring even through the tinny Genesis sound chip. The career mode’s a grind (you’ll fight a lot of no-names before getting to the big matches), but nailing that perfect uppercut to send some chump through the ropes never gets old. Just don’t expect fancy cutscenes or anything—this is pure, sweat-and-pixels boxing.
