Mortal Kombat 3 on the Genesis is still one of the rawest fighting games out there—no frills, just brutal, fast-paced combat where every punch feels like it could crack the screen. You pick your fighter (Scorpion’s my go-to, obviously), and within seconds you’re either getting uppercutted into a pit or landing that sweet, sweet spear-to-fatality combo.
The roster’s stacked with classics—Sub-Zero freezing people mid-air, Liu Kang’s bicycle kicks, and Shao Kahn just being an absolute nightmare to fight. The fatalities? Still ridiculous in the best way. I spent way too much time as a kid trying to memorize the button inputs for them, and honestly? Still satisfying to pull off.
It’s not the prettiest by today’s standards, but the speed and weight of the hits make up for it. Just don’t expect mercy if you’re playing against someone who’s been grinding since the ‘90s.
