Monopoly for the Sega Genesis, released in 1992 by Parker Brothers, was one of the digital versions of the board game that appeared on 16-bit consoles. You control a token, moving around the board by rolling dice. The main goal is to bankrupt your opponents by buying properties, building houses and hotels, and charging rent when they land on your spaces. Key mechanics include managing your cash to pay rent and taxes, and engaging in trades with the AI or other players to complete color sets. The pacing can be slow, especially with multiple AI players taking their turns, and the computer opponents can be surprisingly aggressive in negotiations.
