I remember picking up Mighty Morphin Power Rangers for the Sega Genesis back in 1995. It was published by Bandai, one of many games trying to capture the energy of the popular TV show on 16-bit hardware. This was a time when side-scrolling beat 'em ups were common, and this title fit right into that familiar genre on the platform.

You control one of the five Rangers, each with their own basic attacks and a special move that uses up a energy bar. The main goal is to fight through waves of Putty Patrollers and other enemies across different locations to stop Ivan Ooze. You move screen by screen, clearing out all the enemies in an area before you can proceed. A key mechanic is the ability to switch between your regular Ranger and the Megazord during certain boss fights, which changes up the combat dynamics significantly. The game moves at a brisk pace, but the difficulty can spike sharply, especially during later stages where enemy patterns become less forgiving. Playing it feels like a straightforward, sometimes challenging, dash of mid-90s action.
