Remember that cheesy-but-awesome Power Rangers movie from the 90s? This Sega Genesis game is basically that, but you get to punch Putties in the face instead of just watching. You start off picking your Ranger (I always went with the Red Ranger because, come on, he's the leader) and immediately get thrown into side-scrolling brawls against waves of goons.
The sprites are chunky in that classic 16-bit way, and the attacks feel satisfying—especially when you pull off a team-up move with another Ranger. Some levels switch things up with vehicle sections where you're riding the Dragonzord, which sounds cooler than it plays, but hey, it's 1995 and we're easily impressed. The difficulty spikes hard around the Ivan Ooze boss fight, so prepare to mash buttons like your life depends on it.
It's not the deepest beat 'em up out there, but if you grew up with the movie or just love that era of licensed games, there's some dumb fun here. Just don't expect it to hold up like Streets of Rage.
