Micro Machines on the Genesis is one of those games that just feels right—tiny cars zipping around breakfast tables, pool tables, even bathtubs like some kind of manic toy commercial come to life. The tracks are ridiculous in the best way, with cereal bowls acting as loop-de-loops and pencils serving as ramps. You pick from these little toy racers (the military jeep was my go-to) and just try not to wipe out on a literal dinner plate.
What’s wild is how chaotic it gets with two players—you’re both fighting for space on these cramped tracks, nudging each other into hazards like spilled orange juice or a rogue fork. The controls are simple, but the physics have this weirdly satisfying weight to them, like you can feel the difference between a sports car and a clunky truck. It’s the kind of game where you’ll yell at the screen when someone bumps you into the sink at the last second.
Still holds up as one of the best couch multiplayer racers from that era. Just don’t blame me when you start eyeing your kitchen table as a potential racetrack.
