Mickey Mania on the Sega Genesis is one of those side-scrollers that feels like flipping through an old Disney scrapbook—if that scrapbook had killer boss fights. You jump through different eras of Mickey’s history, from black-and-white Steamboat Willie levels to a surprisingly creepy Night on Bald Mountain showdown. The animation’s smooth, the music’s got that classic Disney charm, and some of those jumps? Brutal. Not gonna lie, I died way too many times on the clock tower level.
It’s got that ‘90s platformer vibe where everything’s colorful but also weirdly punishing—like, why is a cartoon mouse dodging flying cutlery in a kitchen? Still, nailing the timing on those bouncing pies never gets old. If you’re into retro games with style (and a bit of jank), this one’s a solid time capsule.
