Mickey Mania on the Genesis is one of those side-scrollers that just oozes charm. You jump through different eras of Mickey's history—black-and-white Steamboat Willie levels, a creepy Phantom Blot castle, even a wild ride on Pete's runaway mine cart. The animation's smooth as butter, and some of the backgrounds are downright gorgeous for a 16-bit game.

That said, it's tougher than it looks. The platforming gets pretty precise in later levels, and some enemies just love to knock you into pits. Still, there's something satisfying about nailing those jumps while Mickey's little gloved hands wave in the air. The music's catchy too—that Steamboat Willie tune will stick in your head for days.

If you grew up with classic Disney or just dig well-made retro platformers, this one's a solid time capsule. Just maybe take a deep breath before the clock tower level.
