Mercs on the Genesis is one of those games that makes you realize how much fun simple, chaotic shooting can be. You start off dumped into some warzone with just a machine gun, and within seconds, jeeps full of soldiers are barreling toward you while helicopters rain bullets from above. The controls are tight—you can duck, roll, and even hijack enemy vehicles if you're quick enough.
What I love is how it escalates. One minute you're picking off foot soldiers, the next you're blasting a tank with a stolen rocket launcher. The bosses are ridiculous in the best way—giant mechs, attack choppers, all that good 90s arcade nonsense. It’s tough, but not unfair, and the two-player co-op makes the chaos even better. If you’ve got a Genesis and a friend, this one’s a blast.
Just don’t expect deep storytelling—you’re here to shoot things until they explode, and Mercs delivers that perfectly.
