Mega Man X3 came out for the Super Nintendo in 1995, a time when the 16-bit console was still the main platform for action games. Capcom developed and published it, continuing the X series where you play as an advanced robot in a future full of rogue mechanoids. You primarily control X, hunting down eight Maverick bosses in any order to gain their special weapons. Your main goal is to stop the Sigma virus and the Doppler Army from taking over the world. The big addition here is that Zero, X's mentor, becomes a playable character in certain stages after you find his parts; you can switch to him with a button press, using his Z-Saber for close range combat that feels very different from X's ranged buster shots. You explore large, multi path stages screen by screen, fighting enemies and hunting for hidden heart tanks and sub tanks to increase your durability. The game is challenging, with precise platforming and aggressive enemies that demand quick reflexes. It feels like a tense and methodical test of your movement and aim.
