About Protoman 21xx (mega Man X Hack) (alpha)
Protoman 21XX is a 2004 hack of Mega Man X for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, created by Eric22222. It was released during a period when dedicated fans were still producing new content for the aging SNES, modifying the original game's code to create a fresh experience. This project reimagines the classic Mega Man X formula by replacing the protagonist X with his brother, Protoman.
You control Protoman, navigating through side scrolling stages filled with platforming challenges and enemy robots. Your main goal is to defeat eight Maverick bosses, gain their unique weapons, and then confront the final stages. Signature mechanics include the charged buster shot and the ability to acquire and switch between special weapons taken from defeated bosses. The game is known for its high difficulty, demanding precise jumps and quick reflexes to survive enemy patterns and environmental hazards. Playing it feels like a demanding test of your classic action platforming skills.
