Mega Man 7 feels like that moment when you think peace has finally arrived—until it absolutely hasn’t. Dr. Wily’s locked up, the world’s celebrating, and then boom: four backup Robot Masters wake up and start tearing through the city like they’ve got a personal grudge against sidewalks. Classic Wily move.

You jump in as Mega Man, blasting through stages that somehow feel bigger and more detailed than the NES games, with these weirdly satisfying little animations when you land or shoot. The Robot Masters? They’ve got personality—like Turbo Man, who’s basically a race car with an ego, or Slash Man, who’s all claws and bad decisions. And yeah, you’ll still get wrecked by spikes a few times before you memorize the layouts.

It’s got that mix of tight controls and “why is that enemy there?!” frustration that makes beating a stage feel like a tiny victory. Also, the soundtrack slaps—especially the boss theme. Just don’t expect Wily to take responsibility for any of this.
