I picked up MegaPanel for the Sega Genesis, a game that came out in 1990. It was developed by Sega, and it fits right in with the kind of puzzle games that were popular on the system back then, offering a straightforward challenge without a lot of extra fluff.

In MegaPanel, you control a cursor that you move around a grid filled with colored blocks. Your main goal is to clear the screen by matching groups of the same color. The core mechanics involve swapping adjacent blocks to form matches; when you do, those blocks vanish, and new ones fall from the top. You also have to manage the rising stack of blocks, which slowly pushes upward, adding a constant pressure. The game starts calmly but the pace quickens significantly, making it quite difficult to keep up in the later stages. It feels satisfying to set off a big chain reaction and see a huge chunk of the playfield disappear at once.
