Mazin Saga is one of those weird little Genesis beat-em-ups that flew under the radar—especially outside Japan. If you grew up with Mazinger Z, it's a nostalgia trip: you're basically piloting a chunky, pixelated version of the iconic super robot, punching through waves of mechanical beasts.
The controls feel stiff at first (this was 1993, after all), but there's something satisfying about how your rocket punches send enemies flying across the screen. The stages mix side-scrolling brawling with these sudden first-person shooting segments that come out of nowhere—kinda janky, but in a charming way. And yeah, the soundtrack absolutely slaps with that classic Genesis bass.
It's not the deepest game, but if you're into retro anime brawlers or just want to see Mazinger dropkick a tank, it's a solid 20-minute arcade-style romp.
