Maou Renjishi is one of those weird, forgotten Genesis gems—a side-scrolling beat 'em up with a fantasy twist. You play as this lion-headed warrior (or his panther buddy if you go 2-player) slashing through demons and undead knights. The sprites are chunky in that early '90s way, but the animations have this weird charm, especially when you pull off the screen-clearing magic attacks.
It’s got that classic arcade feel—simple combos, big bosses, and levels that just throw waves of enemies at you. The US version got rebranded as "The Astyanax" for some reason, but the Japanese original has way better music. If you’re into obscure action games, this one’s a solid time capsule.
