Mahjong Cop Ryuu – Shiro Ookami No Yabou Game

Ever seen a cop who solves crimes by playing mahjong? Yeah, me neither—until I tried Mahjong Cop Ryuu on the Genesis. You play as Ryuu, this detective who basically busts criminals by outplaying them in tile matches. It’s as weird as it sounds, but somehow it works.
The first case drops you right into a smoky backroom game against some shady yakuza types. The mahjong rules are standard (no weird gimmicks), but the pressure’s on—lose the match, and the bad guy gets away. Between rounds, you’re running around interrogating witnesses in this pixelated ’90s Japan, which honestly has more atmosphere than it should for a mahjong spin-off.
If you’re into old-school mahjong or just love niche Genesis oddities, this one’s a trip. Just don’t expect Phoenix Wright-level drama—it’s more about the vibe and those tense sudden-death matches. The last case had me sweating over a single tile for like 10 minutes.
