I picked up The Lost Vikings for the Sega Genesis, a game developed by Blizzard Entertainment and published by Interplay. It was a release from a time when platformers were common, but this one had a different approach that immediately stood out.

You control three vikings, each with a unique ability: Erik runs fast and jumps, Baleog fights with a sword and bow, and Olaf blocks attacks with his shield. The main goal is to guide all three to the exit of each level, which requires constant switching between them to solve environmental puzzles. You use their skills in combination, like having Olaf create a platform with his shield so Erik can reach a higher ledge, or having Baleog clear a path of enemies. The game is methodical and often difficult, demanding careful planning as a single mistake can mean restarting a screen. It feels like solving a complex, interactive logic problem where every successful move is a small victory.
