About Lobo (unreleased)
Lobo was a game planned for the Sega Genesis, developed by ISCO and intended for publication by Ocean Software in the mid-1990s. It was conceived during a period when the Genesis library was diversifying, with many developers experimenting with action titles that blended different genres. The project was ultimately cancelled, so it never saw an official commercial release.
In the prototype, you control a lone bounty hunter navigating a series of interconnected, screen by screen environments. Your primary objective is to hunt targets across different planets, which involves exploring hostile terrain, engaging in combat with various enemies, and collecting bounties. Signature mechanics include switching between a standard firearm and a more powerful, limited use cannon, as well as piloting a small hoverbike to traverse certain areas more quickly. The pacing is deliberate, with a focus on methodical exploration and resource management, and the difficulty can be unforgiving if you rush into encounters unprepared. Moving through the quiet, alien landscapes with your limited arsenal creates a distinct feeling of isolation and tension.
