About Lion King, The (world)
The Lion King came out in 1994 for the Sega Genesis, published by Virgin Interactive. It was one of many licensed platformers from that period, aiming to capture the movie's story and characters in a playable form.
You control Simba through a series of side scrolling levels. Your main goal is to survive from a young cub to the adult lion who reclaims his throne. You jump across platforms, use a claw swipe to fight hyenas and other creatures, and later gain a roar to stun enemies. Some stages are slower, focusing on careful climbing and avoiding environmental hazards, while others are more combat heavy. The game is known for its sharp difficulty, especially in later stages where precise jumps are required. Playing it feels like a constant test of your timing and patience.
