About Light Crusader
Light Crusader came out for the Sega Genesis in 1995, developed by Treasure. It was part of that late era for the console where developers were really pushing what the hardware could do visually. You get this isometric view that was still pretty uncommon for action games on the system at the time.
You control a knight named David, exploring the town of Green Row and the labyrinth beneath it to rescue kidnapped villagers. The game plays out screen by screen; you clear puzzles and enemies in one room before moving to the next. Combat is straightforward, using your sword for close attacks and a bow for hitting switches or distant foes. A lot of your time is spent pushing blocks to solve environmental puzzles, finding keys, and delving deeper into the multi-level dungeon. The pacing is methodical, and some of the puzzles can be quite difficult, requiring careful observation. It feels like a thoughtful, slower-paced adventure where every new screen is a fresh challenge to figure out.
