Last Battle on the Sega Genesis is one of those games that looks way cooler in screenshots than it actually plays. You pick from these beefy warriors—samurai, ninja, brawler types—and then just kinda... walk to the right, punching identical-looking goons until they explode into coins. The sprites are huge, which was impressive back then, but the controls feel stiff as hell. Like, you’ll whiff punches constantly because the hitboxes are weirdly precise.
It’s based on Fist of the North Star, but unless you squint, you’d never know—just some vague post-apocalyptic vibes and dudes with mullets. The music’s got that classic Genesis screechy synth, though, and there’s something satisfying about how enemies ragdoll when you finally land a hit. Not the best beat ‘em up on the system, but if you’re nostalgic for janky 16-bit brawlers, it’s got its moments.
