Alright, so Last Action Hero on the Genesis is exactly what you'd expect from a '90s movie tie-in—cheesy, a little janky, but weirdly fun if you're into that era. You play as Jack Slater (or his kid sidekick, depending on the level), punching, shooting, and jumping through movie sets that look like they were ripped straight from the film. The first level’s this grimy city street full of thugs who take way too many hits to go down, and yeah, the controls feel stiff at first. But once you get used to it, there’s something satisfying about the over-the-top action.
Some levels switch things up—one minute you’re platforming across Hollywood billboards, the next you’re in a top-down shooter section. The bosses are ridiculous in the best way, especially the guy who turns into a giant cartoon bomb. It’s not a masterpiece, but if you grew up on Schwarzenegger one-liners and pixelated explosions, it’s a solid nostalgia trip. Just don’t expect it to hold your hand.
