Landstalker on the Genesis is one of those weird, charming action-RPGs that sticks with you. You play as Nigel, this cocky little treasure hunter who jumps around in isometric dungeons—which, yeah, takes some getting used to at first. The perspective makes platforming kinda awkward, but once it clicks, you’re hopping between ledges and stabbing giant spiders like it’s nothing.

What really makes it special are the puzzles. Some are straight-up devious, where you’re pushing blocks, flipping switches, or backtracking once you finally get the right item. And the characters? They’ve got that old-school anime vibe—over-the-top merchants, shady thieves, even a sassy fairy who follows you around. The whole thing’s got this goofy energy, but don’t let that fool you—some of those late-game dungeons will wreck you if you’re not careful.

It’s got that classic "one more try" pull, especially when you’re just sure you can make that jump if you angle it right. Still holds up if you’re into retro adventures with some bite.
