I picked up LEGO Batman 2 for the Nintendo DS back in 2012, a time when the handheld was still full of life. You primarily control Batman and Robin, switching between them to use their unique gadgets; Robin can use his acrobatics to reach certain areas, while Batman has his grapnel gun. The main goal is to stop the Joker and Lex Luthor from taking over Gotham City. The gameplay is built around screen by screen exploration, solving simple environmental puzzles by destroying LEGO objects and rebuilding the pieces into new contraptions. You also collect LEGO studs and hunt for hidden gold bricks to unlock new characters and vehicles. The pacing is generally relaxed, with combat that is simple and forgiving, making it easy to just pick up and play. It feels like a comfortable, familiar LEGO adventure that works well for short bursts on the go.
