Knuckles The Echidna In Sonic The Hedgehog Game

Ever wondered what it’s like to play as Knuckles in a classic Sonic game? This Sega Genesis romhack swaps Sonic out for the red echidna, and honestly, it’s a fun little twist. You’ve still got the same zones and loops, but now you’re gliding and climbing walls like Knuckles does in Sonic 3—except here, he’s all alone, no Tails or Sonic in sight.
At first, I thought it’d just be a palette swap, but Knuckles’ moves actually change how you tackle some of the levels. That glide comes in clutch when you’re trying to skip tricky platforming sections, and smashing through walls never gets old. Green Hill Zone feels weirdly fresh when you’re not just rolling through it at top speed.
It’s not a full-blown new game, but if you’ve played Sonic 1 to death, this gives you a reason to revisit it. Just don’t expect any new levels or bosses—same old Robotnik, same old chaos emeralds. Still, gliding around as Knuckles is a solid way to kill an afternoon.
