About Klax (japan)
I first played Klax on the Sega Genesis back in 1990, a version published by Tengen. It arrived during a period when the console was filling up with arcade ports and puzzle games, offering a straightforward alternative to the more complex platformers and shooters of the era.
You control a small paddle at the bottom of the screen, catching colored tiles as they slide down a ramp. The goal is to create rows, columns, or diagonals of three or more matching tiles to clear them. The main mechanics involve catching the tiles, then either dropping them into one of five lanes on your playfield or holding them on your paddle for later use. The game starts calmly but the speed increases steadily, demanding quick decisions about tile placement and color matching. It feels like a constant, engaging battle against the conveyor belt's relentless pace.
