Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days is one of those DS games that feels way bigger than it should. You play as Roxas—yeah, the kid from KH2’s weirdly long prologue—and get to see what his life was like in Organization XIII before everything went sideways. The combat’s simple but satisfying, mixing magic and keyblade combos, and the mission structure makes it perfect for quick sessions. Also, running around Disney worlds on a handheld just hits different—even if the graphics are a little rough by today’s standards.
What really sticks with you, though, is the story. It’s got that classic Kingdom Hearts mix of friendship, existential dread, and ice cream. The way it fleshes out Roxas and Axel’s bond adds so much weight to scenes you’ve probably already seen in other games. Just don’t expect a happy ending—this one’s more about the journey than the destination.
