Kamen Rider - Dragon Knight on the DS is basically a side-scrolling beat 'em up with some light RPG elements. You pick your Rider—I went with Wing Knight first because the purple armor looked cool—and then you're thrown into these fast-paced fights against waves of monsters. The combat's simple but satisfying, with special moves that actually feel powerful when you pull them off.
What surprised me was how much story they packed into this little cart. There are cutscenes between missions that actually make you care about why you're punching all these monsters. The sprite work's decent for a DS game, and the Rider transformations have this nice little flashy animation that never gets old.
It's not super deep, but if you just want to feel like a tokusatsu hero for a few hours, this does the job better than most licensed games. Just don't expect Devil May Cry.
