Jurassic Park came out for the Sega Genesis in 1993, developed and published by Sega themselves. It was one of many movie tie-ins from that period, landing right when 16-bit consoles were the main platform for action games. You see a lot of these licensed titles from the early 90s, and this one tried to capture the film's tension with its own style of gameplay.

You control the park's veterinarian, Dr. Alan Grant, and your goal is simply to survive and find a way off the island. The game is split between a top-down view for exploring the overworld and a first-person perspective when you enter buildings or certain dense areas. You collect keycards to access new zones and different types of ammunition for your weapons, like tranquilizer darts and grenades, to deal with the dinosaurs. The pacing is methodical; you often have to backtrack through areas that become repopulated with enemies. It is a difficult game where a single mistake against a raptor can mean starting a section over. Playing it feels like a constant, careful negotiation with a world that is actively hostile to your presence.
