Jurassic Park 2 – The Lost World on Genesis is one of those games that feels like it was made for late-night, slightly-too-loud playthroughs. You start off in dense jungle, and within minutes, you're either getting chased by raptors or trying to figure out which path doesn’t lead to a T-Rex. The pixelated dinos actually look pretty good for the era—some of them even have that eerie, slow-moving presence from the movies.
What I like is how it mixes exploration with survival. You’ve got limited ammo, so you can’t just blast everything. Sometimes it’s smarter to sneak past a pack of compys or climb a tree to avoid a carnotaur. The controls take a second to get used to (why does jumping feel so heavy?), but once you adjust, it’s weirdly satisfying to outmaneuver something that could swallow you whole.
It’s not perfect—some of the platforming is janky, and good luck figuring out where to go without a guide—but there’s something about the atmosphere that nails the movie’s vibe. If you grew up with a Genesis, this one’s a solid trip back to when dinosaurs ruled gaming, too.
